Actually i had XP 32 bit OS installed in C. I upgraded to Windows Ultimate 64 bit and removed the folder "Windows.Old" that had traces of previous XP OS. So i've only one OS on my system right now. And moreover, I've re-sized all these partitions using EASEUS after installing Windows 7. Earlier D partition had some 50 GB hardly.

Well, this shoots down my earlier hypothesis as to how you managed to get D to be your "active+boot" partition.

Would have been nice to have a screenshot or true details about your earlier partition setup, before you used Easeus to resize things.

The history you describe of an in-place upgrade from WinXP on C to Win7 on the same C partition doesn't explain how a 100GB D partition comes to be your "active+boot" partition. Did you maybe also have an earlier version of Windows at some time way back, maybe Win98 that went into that partition, before you installed XP in what today is C? Did you use Vista as an intermediate step? Normally, you can't just go directly from XP to Win7 (as I've recently learned).

The fact that D is your first partition and is "primary" and "active+boot", and that E is your next partition and is also "primary", finally followed by the "extended partition" wherein are located all of your other "logical" partitions including C first, and that D, E and C are "problematic"... this is just very suspicious to me.

I don't have an explanation yet, but I just find it very curious that D is your "active+boot" partition and is 100GB with real data in it, but that this was not originally your actual earlier XP partition.

If you are still trying to sort this out,:

Open the Computer window.

Press the ALT key.

Click View >Choose Details>Tick Name>OK.
It should be ticked by default, refreshing it might help
