FFS!! spoke 2 soon...booted up my laptop and windows 7 loaded up and went to my desktop and then froze and restarted. It then went to a black screen giving me 2 options.
One was to restart windows normally and the other was the check for problems. I have tried both options and it just keeps restarting and taking me back to the same screen.

I have now put the windows 7 disk back in and gone on to repair and startup repair. It is taking ages searching for problems and once again i have put windows 7 but my OS is not showing up on the list.

Now i have had enough and at the end of my patience i have tried every tutorial given to me and finally get it working and then it F**s up again. I have no idea what the problem is and have no idea why all of these tutorials are not working. All i want is for my laptop to work again.

Restart computer and tap F8 to enter Advanced Boot Options,
choose Last Known Good Configuration. See if it will start.

If not boot the DVD, select Repair on second screen, if it doesn't discover an installation to Repair, click through to Recovery Tools list to open a Command Line, type bootrec /fixboot, enter and bootrec /fixmbr, Enter, reboot to see if it starts, if not boot back into DVD to see if it now discovers an installation, run Startup Repair repeatedly. Report back the Startup repair Results.

It is important to take down and report back any error message verbatim, and to report exactly what happens at failure.

I don't think the message reporting HD "read only" could affect things if the HD has been wiped. Anyone else?

If the install proceeded after you changed SATA controller from AHCI to IDE mode then it could mean the AHCI driver wasn't in installer, but this provides no clue why Win7 would install then fail.

Your 1st step "choose last known config in f8 boot" I have tried that and it leads me back to the "windows error recovery" screen where it tells me to launch startup repair or start windows normally. Both options i choose take me back to resart boot and same screen.. I will do 2nd step now "command line" and report back in few mins

your 2nd step enter command line... I have typed bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr and then restart it takes me back to the error screen with the same 2 options.

I will now try startup repair and see what happens but i tried that an hour ago and it just said seraching for problems for like half an hour but ill try again and just leave it untill it stops running

The point in running the two commands was to get the DVD Repair console to discover an installation. Did it?

No after doing the two commands i rebooted and went to repair console and it still didnt discover installation. As we speak i am currently on startup repair and it says "attempting repairs"

"repairing disk errors..this may take over an hour to complete"

so just a waiting game to be honest

This points to your HD as the likely culprit, which would explain many of the symptoms of the past two days including why Win7 is not seen by Repair and the "read only" false positive.

What I would do next is run the HD maker's diagnostic/repair extended CD scan. You may need to look on the HD now to see what the make is. HD Diagnostic
Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp

The combination of the HD scan and then another Disk Check run from the DVD Command line on all partitions can repair a HD to return to service. If you want to wait til later or not take the chance, swap in another HD now to see if it solves the problem.
