Been on the "starting windows" for 20 min? Cant start!

Hi im a medical student, exam are this coming up Monday. I started up my Sony, beta window 7 this morning and an error window pops up. Asking me to repair or start up normally. So I have tried both and have left me helpless for several min going back to th window error rcovery screen

I then did f8 several time to start up normally with network after 20 min a blue screen with writing popped up. now it went by too fast for me to read.

Currently it took me back to the windows error recovery screen asking me ONLY two things to launch startup repair or to start window normally? What do I do?

I downloaded a neuro program right before iwent to bed the download failed and I turn off my computer without deleting it
Please help! I should have deleted it but was too tired form studying 12 hours straight with only 5 hours of sleep and I have to do it again but without notes is basically impossible.
I thank anyone in advace that might know what's going on. I think that the program was incompatiable w/ windown 7 or was basically a virus.

    again thank you in advance,
    Ling

Can you boot into safemode - if you can do so, then uninstall the app you think maybe in question.

Also, maybe try a restore to a date before that application was installed?

Can you do a last know good configuratuion? If not, do safe mode, then run a system restore to before you installed the app...

Hi Ling, welcome to the forums.

If you are getting the 'Startup Repair' option then try it, see what happens. If you have the DVD it would be best to do a Repair Install as this will restore all your System files.

    Hope this helps :)

Or choose the repair option and do a system restore.

I actually have this problem a lot on vista. It's cause (for me) by a single device. A USB card reader. About every 10 boots, this card reader will stall the boot forever. But in this case, pulling the reader out allows instant continuation of boot.

So on the chance that you have a bunch of USB devices, try pulling them out. Expecially things like card readers :)

It's always the cheap crap that causes me problems on my PC. But where can you buy a QUALITY card reader? They are all $8 and no one would pay $50 for one no matter how well engineered so you're kind of stuck with the crap in cases like this.

    Hey 7echnoo7im

IT(my computer) figured it out. My panic attack didn't help me (sigh) I should have just waited till my computer fixes itself and surly it did.Wasted 3 hours of studying time.

Well again it started up fine. I put in my password and deleted the stupid neuro program.

And yes I do have a bluetooth device on my laptop its so I can listen to lectures while cooking/cleaning.

Thanks for the help ! life as a M1 is scary if you dont have notes lectures powerpoint .......
