Although, I agree that the Bios update is a good move; unless you are comfortable, have someone else look at it.

Ok, I tried it.... and even though I ran it in administrator mode, it tells me, well, see attached image. What next?

If you are confident that you are doing it correctly, the real administrator can do it for you

Yup, confident I am doing it correctly. You guys are awesome for the help on step by step... Ok, I enabled administrator, rebooted. Clicked on administrator to log in, and same error message. I can't run that file. Even right click & run as administrator when logged into administrator!

    Next please?

Before you start the action, right click and then run as adminstrator, see how that works.

It could be a built in feature of gateway to prevent tampering. I dont know how to overcome a Gateway problem.

You can try the other BIOS. Reboot, go into BIOS, the name should be at the top of the window.

Ok, problem now solved. For whoever else has this problem, here's my solution....

I was poking around in BIOS, and found out there is a battery problem. (Yeah, the battery only lasts 5 minutes, not sure if that mattered), but apparently it does. I removed the battery, booted up, and rebooted. It reboots! It was the battery all along. Odd. So now I have to use this laptop without the battery in if I want to close the lid.

Thank you all for your help!

I also had a similar issue. On one of my suspend resume sessions, i lost power unexpectedly. After the next reboot, I would shut-down or restart my Toshiba laptop, and after shutdown procedure, it would go to a black screen, and wouldn't cut the power. I solved this problem by removing the battery, powering up, shutting down(it worked fine after removing the battery,) and then reinserting the battery again, and doing one more power-up shut-down.
