I can't put my finger on when this started, nor do I wish to go back to before then.

Also, I believe but am not sure I had this on my last installation too. I don't know what this directly means, apart from having even less of a sense about this whole thing.

I tried running Repair from the Windows Install disk, but that didn't do anything. It allegedly fixed things, but apart from Borderlands running again via Steam, nothing appears to have been fixed.

You obviously have some serious issues, and it sounds like the fix won't be easy or painless. So I respectfully suggest you, not only take the time to read through the tutotials thoroughly (because you might find some clues as to what steps to take), but to also contact Microsoft and/or your computer manufacturer for technical support.

My manufacturer has been out of business for well over a year, and Microsoft isn't well represented in Israel. I do have the local shop to try and check, but I'm note entirely sure they can figure this out.

Will try, though. Thanks for the assistance.

I can appreciate the difficulty of your situation, but here's a thought --- even though you might be physically located in Israel, is there any reason why you couldn't call Microsoft Tech Support in the US? At least it's worth a try.

I'm not sure it works that way, nor do I think it will bring much use.
Also, I don't have the number.
