    Java 6.0_26 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION-Help

I keep getting this error, I have unistalled & reinstalled, I turned of the UAC as was suggested by Java.com to fix it. It looked like that worked, but it didn't-Every time I go into Pogo to play-I get another error I don't know alot about computers, but I have downloaded Java updates on our other laptop and desk top and not had a problem--but this new one is a mess. I just bought this laptop about a week ago-its a Toshiba C-655. the OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. Its a 64 bit and the browser is IE9. I'd appreciate any help

    thanks

Hello colokid and welcome to Seven Forums.

Is Pogo the only time you're getting the errors? If it is, it might be a problem with Pogo rather than Java. Also, are you installing the 32-bit Java or the 64-bit? I'm guessing that Pogo is an older app and most likely runs on the 32-bit Java.

Which version of Java should I download for my Windows 64-bit operating system?

As far as I know Pogo is the only thing I'm having a problem with-I originally installed both the 64 bit & the 32 as that seemed to be what Java was recommending-I then uninstalled them both and reinstalled the 32 bit version--
also I must be pretty stupid as I don't know what else Java affects

About the only time most people realize something needs Java is when they get a prompt saying they need to install it. Myself included. Has nothing at all to do with smarts, brains, heredity, DNA, etc. Well, in my case maybe it does have something to do with brain power. I've got one remaining brain cell and sometimes it just wants to sleep. :)

For the time being I'd suggest contacting Pogo customer support. There's usually a Help or Contact Us link in small letters on the home page. Describe to them what's happening. Perhaps you're not the only one experiencing problems and they may even have a work around.

the only time I seem to have a problem is when I'm in Pogo--but I don't know what else its used for. I had downloaded both the 32bit and the 64 bit as that seemed to be what Java.com was recommending. I uninstalled both of them and reinstalled the 32 bit one with the UAC off as thats what they suggested, It said it was installed sucessfully=but I keep getting the error and can't play a game very long

I think this may be related to the Pogo software. Java is updated very often and programmers have a small hell keeping up with new versions, combined with the different ways Windows versions handles Java applications. Windows 7 and in particular Windows7x64 requires a recode of just about any Java app in order to have it working, even if it worked perfectly in WXP.
