10 key buttons not working & fingerprints burned from R hand

I'm kinda new to http://www.windowssevenforums.com & am impressed. I have a question or two concerning my machine.
#1 - - - My 10 key button area isn't operational & the "NUM LOCK" button doesn't seem to help.
#2 - - - I have a password & a fingerprint reader that I can use either way, to access my PC. Quite recently, I burned all five of my R hand digits used to ID myself to the machine. How would I delete these fingerprints & replace them with all five of my L hand fingers??? Any suggestions would be appreciated....

    Thank You,
    Klytemnestra

Hi there and welcome to SevenFourms, I would like to help you on the fingerprint issue, sorry to hear you burned your fingers, if i remember correctly that model laptop has a program called simple pass on it. I would try and search it up in the start menu and see what you get.

For the 10 key button area, would you mind clarifying what button area.

The "ten key" button area is to the right side of the key board or keypad. I have an HP dv7--4177nr laptop... It's just like what a teller @ a bank would use on their PC...

I would try and update the keyboard driver, go to start and type device manager and then go to keyboard and right click on your keyboard and update driver.

There are several ways to get a good result first I would call HP support and explain your problem 2nd you can take the battery out underneath and then press the on off button for about 30 seconds which will reset the machine back to original default settings. Make sure you toggle the num lock button to toggle on or toggle of the number keys and if all else fails reset the machine to out of the box configuration with the HP support advisor on your task bar.

also you can click on the fingerprint icon and then go to manager and reset the digits you want to establish after you sign in of course....lets say you sign in then for example go to yahoo if you have it set up to fingerprint sign your browser then click on the little icon in the top lefthand corner and then go to manager and follow the tree down to where you can reset which fingers you would like to use...sorry about the burns bud...had a friend who had a similar problem and the removal of the battery and then depressing the on/off button for 30 seconds did the trick...
