'Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working' Video Files and Alt + Tab

    Hey folks,

I've been struggling with the 'Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working' error for a month or two, maybe more now and it's beginning to really frustrate me.

It only occurs when I'm in a folder with video files, doesn't matter what kind (not corrupt files as it happens across the board) and also when I try to Alt + Tab through windows.

Anyone have any ideas? I've virus scanned with MalwareBytes and also scanned for Spyware. Updated Windows and still no luck.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, did as you said and all that happened was it opened up the libraries section of Windows. Will see if the problem persists.

Edit - Flicked through some folders then and it happened again, just gonna restart.

What Codecs do you use ? I have seen sometimes KLite Codec Pack crashes explorer when you are browsing a video file .

Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs is a better option .

I use the CCCP pack with Media Player Classic but I don't think that'd be the issue. Have had the files/codecs installed for a lot longer than the error.

If you shift to Shark007's , it is most likely that the issue will not be there . ffdshow cause such crashes .

At the same time, as Alt+Tab also crashes explorer, you may try to reinstall your graphics drivers .
