Can't make a .txt file... what?

Ok so, in XP or Vista, when I am on the Desktop, inside a pre-created or newly created folder, I can easy right click anywhere, scroll down to NEW, right arrow to be able to create a whole bunch of things (Folder, shortcut, bitmap, rich text, text document, etc, etc, etc)... Not on Win 7?

I mean, I CAN do it if I am on the desktop but not inside a folder... the only option I have if I go to NEW is to make a FOLDER, within this newly created folder, I can then proceed to make a txt document or any other option available... is that normal behavior for Win 7?

and if so... what is the logic behind that?

and if not... how do I fix it?

    Hello Daniel,

From root directories (ex: C: ), the only option is New - Folder. You should have the rest of the options in subfolders though, or a new folder on the desktop. Is this what you are seeing?

I just created a new folder and was able to create a text file inside the New Folder.
Infact, i did get the same options when i right click and click New within the New Folder.
