Just installed windows 7 and I have a question

Hello...I am not very computer savy. I installed windows 7 last night on my computer which was running an copy of windows 7 that was not genuine. Since installing the genuine windows 7 I noticed there are no icons and no programs..Is that correct? Have I lost all of my programs and does windows 7 OS not come with programs such as Microsoft Office? Can some one who knows what they are talking about please give me some insight. Thanks

You can buy MS office, it is not part of Windows 7.

If you don't have a copy of Office you can use Java's excellent free Open Office which works with all Office files.

You need Java runtime from their website anyway, and Adobe Flash Player and Reader from their's.

If you legally bought the programs in the first place, just re-install them from the original disks using the original serials etc.

Question: Why are servers installed in VMs?
I've been curious about this for a while. Also, why run multiple VMs? I usually run multiple VMs for, say, one VM is for debugging and one VM is for installing risky stuff. But on a server standpoint, I just can't see it. Can someone enlighten me please? XD
