    Folders not opening properly

I'm new to this forum, this is my first post and I'm not that familiar with Windows. I have a HP machine that is just a few months old.

My problem is that folders won't open with a click of the the left hand mouse button. I have to right click, then click on Open. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Unless your mouse is configured differently, you need to double-click the left mouse button to open your folders.

You'll find Mouse properties in your Control Panel.

If you want to open files with a single click.

    1. Open explorer.
    2. Select Organize -> Folder and search options.

    3. Click the Single click to open... radio button.

I don't have a "Mouse Properties" in my Control Panel.

Is the suggestion to "open explorer" referring to Internet Explorer?

    No. Windows Explorer.

You can also use Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options to do what you want:

Thanks for the suggestions. My daughter says that an update was at the root of the problem. She down loaded the fix.
