Can't find the Desktop in pane

I created a folder on the desktop called "Program Downloads", this is where I download all the executables for my programs. When I downloaded a program by clicking "save" I was always able to easily navigate to the desktop and the appropriate folder.

For some reason now if I try to download a program it wants to download it in "user\downloads". Not surprising I suppose but it never did that before and it is difficult to get to the desktop and ultimately my Program Download folder. I don't think I changed anything. I had briefly moved the Program Download folder to My Documents and created a desktop shortcut for it but then decided to move the actual folder back to the desktop.

edit: Actually it's more widespread. Anything I do I no longer has the "desktop" option in the left pane. I have to click on C: and eventually navigate to it.

Where did the "desktop" option go?

oops I guess I have to expand the "Favorites". Wanted to delete this thread (no need to show my stupidity ) but can't figure out how.

    Hello Bru,

This may be able to restore the missing shortcuts in the Favorites group in the navigation pane.

    Hope this helps,
