    Hi,

    No, 'fraid not.

Had no luck with sfc /scannow - ran it 3 times. It didn't find any issues.

I had trouble completing a restore and then I went away. I was going to try again then report back once I'd managed to complete a restore.

Will report back as soon as I can.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately, due to having initial problems with completing a restore, and then going away, I now can't restore back to the time before I created the new account.

I've tried most of the actions on this thread (except for Startup Repair -not keen on doing this at this stage). I'm aware they were using Vista but thought I would give some of those things a try. FYI, I'm not part of a domain. Microsoft Security Essentials found a few things and fixed them but I still have the Welcome Screen Issue.

    Anyone else got any ideas?

    Solved it!

So I can indeed blame Auslogics Boostspeed - Auslogics Tweak Manager.

On "Startup and Shutdown" > "Startup" page a while ago, I had ticked the "Disable parsing AUTOEXEC.BAT" as it said its normally safe to do this.

Once I unticked and restarted the PC, it's now all sorted!
