How will the RTM Key's Work?

So, the Windows 7 RTM.. Yay! We've been waiting, praying, hoping, and watching all these blogs and sites for weeks now waiting for it.

We now "think" that it is the Build 7600 like everyone is saying right now, but still no "OFFICIAL WORD" from M$ on whether this build is the RTM or not, and now everyone is talking about a re-string or whatever.

Basically here is my question, after Microsoft officially mentions the RTM, and it gets released to Technet & MSDN Subscribers Within a few weeks after RTM like they said it would. How does that all work.

When the RTM gets released on Technet, According to the Windows 7 Blog team. They said we the technet subscribers would get RTM Keys (Different from RC and Beta Keys) for the RTM. So will that work and can I use that for here on out, or would I have to do a clean install again when Windows 7 Gets officially released in October?

Will the RTM Release, Download and Serials work for my main Windows setup. Or will that still be temporary til Oct. 22nd?

If a different build is released to technet/mdsn, chances are whatever keys are issued then will work on the latest build. But if i had a technet account, id just do a clean install.

As long as the code is the same as the RTM version, they should work just fine, however, if it was me, Id go ahead and download the gold version just to be sure ... I aint sayin, im just sayin!

Once you download it from Technet, that will be the gold code, so essentially the same code as will get pressed on DVD's etc. Keys that you obtain from Technet, will work as normal keys, no need to change anything on october 22.

What gets released on Technet/MSDN should be the same as what ends up on shelves in October, and the keys should work the same way.

Everything should be the same except it's electronic distribution rather than via boxes and discs, and you're not supposed to use the Technet/MSDN stuff in a production/staging environment.

Wait, thats not what I meant I guess.

I'm not downloading the new leaked Build 7600.. I'm going to wait til the Gold one gets released on Technet. Then I'll install that.

What I'm asking, is after it goes Gold, and I can officially download the Gold RTM version from Technet, and get a serial. Can I just use that for here on out. Or will I still need to download, and reinstall it October 22nd version and use that for now?

edit* there ya go, you guys covered it

Yes you can use it from that point onwards, no need to redownload or install it again, I guess I understood your question the first time :)

Ya, thats what I was looking for. Thanks

So basically the Gold version will be the same as the one pressed to DVD's. and if I install that when it gets released to me on technet, I don't need to change to the October 22nd version until I personally buy it later.

    Cool, Thanks!
