want to buy a new DVD writer... suggestions plz...

want to buy a new DVD writer... whether, i shud go for Sony, Samsung, Acer or LG ?? any suggestions ???

I really don't think that it makes too much difference between brands, except that I have sworn off anything that is made by Sony. All 3 of the optical drives in my desktop are LG, and they work fine, except that they tend to make some odd noises when used. With the prices of DVD writers being as low as they are, I would go for the one with the best specs (i.e. write speed).

EDIT: I should add that I have only owned 1 Samsung optical drive, and it died somewhat prematurely, but otherwise was good also.

I have had back luck with SONY. LG, ACER, ASUS, all seem to be fine!

I'm not going to recommend any specific model, but I would make sure that it was LightScribe capable.

Microsoft XPS doc writer
When I try to use the Microsoft XPS doc writer while in Firefox, it crashes. If I use it in Chrome, it is fine. Is there a setting in Firefox that is blocking it? Thanks

DVD writer not working
My DVD writer stopped working. In the Device Manager > DVD > Properties I found this message: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" What do I need to do to resolve this problem?
