Jeez! something else. Missing tray apps and UAC

I built this machine and I'm still learning so everyone please bear with me.

Previously, when I booted the Sys tray would show several applications that were loaded. The Asus AI Suite II, a clipboard utility, and CPU temperature utility. At some point I added another search utility, "Everything", but could not get it to load without a UAC popup. I tried checking the "run as administrator" in the program icon, giving full permissions etc, nothing worked. I just figured I'd have to live with it.

However, now I notice that several other apps are no longer showing up in the sys tray even though I selected "show icons and notifications." I try to change some in the notification control and I get the "this notification is not currently active". Huh. I placed shortcuts in the Startup folder and no go there either. I'm not sure if this started when I screwed with the permissions trying to get Everything passed the UAC.

Is there some sort of reset for the sys tray? I found this on the Microsoft site.
Notification area icons missing at startup or disappear after startup. - Microsoft Answers

It says make a new profile and transfer the old over to the new. Would that not just transfer the problem?

What I really want is for machine to boot with the notifications of my apps showing up in the Sys tray, and without me having to respond to the UAC every time.

A new account should start anew with everything. As for UAC, I have mine turned off, it would ask for permission no matter what I tried to open or start. Everything, of course, goes through files and it would make UAC warn you. It could be set NOT to run at startup.

A new account is a lot of work! I followed the instructions but when I started up in the new account all my software preferences are lost. My Autocad took dasy to configure to my liking and in the new profile it is reverted to stock. VecetorWorks asked for the Serial number again and I had to exit out of that. Last time Vectorworks read my change as an attempt to install on another computer and invalidated my license. I don't want to go through that again. Icons have a little check box that is really annoying. I don't have this in my other profile. Lots of other annoyances.

Is there any way to just reset the system tray and then add back the apps I want?

Yep. That got rid of the items I removed. Still Still trying to sort out how to get the programs past UAC on start up and minimizing to the the tray.

This sounds like a setting that I helped with in another thread, see Bongo's post #4 here to see if this is what you mean: Accessibility on drag and drop options
And how to remove those check boxes in my post #2 in the same thread:

For the UAC try: Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create

As for minimizing to the the tray I would try.

    From the Start Menu:
Right click VecetorWorks' listing and open Properties >Shortcut Tab.

Where it says Run: Jeez! something else. Missing tray apps and UAC-1run.jpg set it to Minimize, click Apply, then Okay.

When you say Startup do you mean when you boot or re-start your machine or just when you start the program?
We may have to find a System tray/taskbar utility for you if you mean re-start your machine.

Here's the fix for the check boxes on icons. Control Panel|Folder Options|View tab. Scroll down a bit and UNcheck the box in the red outline in the snip below.
