SSD and HDD - which files to move over?

64GB SSD - nice..!!

how much system RAM you got onboard..?
I run those MyDoc, etc libraries and all my games from the HDD
(- and Corel's art suite, as it's heavy on the save/load side..)
the Win7OS, Hardware Drivers(Audio and Video), MSOffice2007, etc
and a coupla other bits and pieces, are still on the SSD..


tell ya what - fill in your "My System Specs" with all the info you can lay your hands on
that way it'll be much easier to advise you - rather than asking loads of questions..
- it'll be easier to gauge your requirements that way..

64GB? Thats a fair amount. If you only had your operating system on it and a single large game, you could possibly do it. Downloading other things like word, skype, and all that eventually takes up all that valuable space. Those type of things can be placed on the HDD to make room. I usually only keep updates and the OS on my SSD, but there is room for another game or two. I have an 80GB with 18GB extra space I don't plan on filling at the moment (just in case). I think I have one or two games on it, like I said. Remember that games also need updates. You might, following these gents suggestions and mine (OS and a single game on SSD), get away with it. might take some reinstallings on your part, however

Just thought about it though, you mentioned WOW right? Doesn't that thing (expansions and all) take like 64GB of space?

Everyone will have a different opinion, but I have found that the best thing to do with a paging file is leave it alone. another option would be to make it really small on the main drive and increase the size over on the secondary drive. I would never completely delete it, not matter how much RAM you have. Its your decision.

if you are asking specific settings, do 500mb main drive, and minimum 1000mb/maximum 8000mb secondary... or just leave it alone lol

If you reinstall office, and other programs (maybe leave CS5, maybe move it, I'm not sure how much of a hard drive hog it is) onto your hard drive, you could free up space for your game(s) too.

I get "Out Of Memory" errors from Crysis2 with the 800MB pagefile setting
think I'll up it to 1024MB to see if that cures it..

I guess Crysis2 makes heavy use of RAM and the pagefile - also the GFX RAM as well..
the game is installed on my HDD, but I assume, it'll still need the pagefile on C: (the SSD)
- perhaps an additional pagefile on the same HDD as the game would help..(?)


- any thoughts on the subject..??
- I'll give it a go and see if an additional pagefile cures the prob..
