    Action center flag disappears

Ok , as the title says ,the flag disappears particularly if explorer restarts .i have it set to show icons and notifications ,the funny thing is it does the same on the laptop(currently using desktop)
occasionally i can get it back by opening Godmode folder but this is a nuisance and not always successful. on the laptop last night i performed a system restore to a point when it was ok ,it didnt work also ran sfc/scannow ,the flag came back but on reboot it was gone again.
    any ideas folks?

well on the desktop i used a software to change a drive icon ,it restarts explorer for changes to show,
on the laptop i was trying to acsess a folder on the network and it kept greying out the window and when i tried to close it i got a pop up with the choice to wait for explorer to respond, close the explorer or restart the explorer,
    i had to restart.
i have made a new homegroup but that didnt resolve the issue ,its a problem with the drive the folder was on ,i tried scanning the drive for errors but the window keeps closing after i click start,so not sure about that ,

Well it sounds like your problems on the desktop are the issues causing explorer to crash and restart, not that Windows itself is just causing the icons to disappear. This problem can't be addressed from a native Windows settings point of view when you have other software that is causing an underlying issue. When explorer restarts, often times icons disappear for whatever reason. This has always been the case and can't be resolved by a setting within Windows as it's obviously not programmed to handle things like that. A reboot seems to be the only thing that fixes icons disappearing after explorer crashes, from my experience.

I would spend my time figuring out why explorer is crashing by first removing any software that might be causing it.

i can get the flag to reapear but on start up it is gone again. explorer didnt crash on the desktop.i restarted explorer to finish the cycle of the software to show new drive icon .
the issue on the laptop is an odd one, after reboot there is no flag showing either.

haha funny thing is the bloody flag has reappeared for no reason on the desktop and the laptop, after start,so possibly whatever was causing it has stopped.

Have you gone through all the tutorials on here that deal with resetting the notifications and enabling/disabling them?

Notification Area Icons - Hide or Show System Icons and Notifications
System Icons - Turn On or Off
System Icons - Enable or Disable
Action Center - Change Message Settings

well i have solved the network problem there was a file that was corrupt and was stopping access to the folder via the network, the flags seem to be reappearing now so whatever the issue was it has sorted itself out
