How do I change Windows 7 default action for drives?

Something changed the default option for disk drives on my Win 7 system. When I double click on any drive I get an error dialog saying that there is no program associated with it. When I right click I see a bogus "cmd" at the top of the action list. How do I get rid of that and restore the "Open" as default?

The file association mechanism doesn't address drives, just files.

    Thanks

Hello Don, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if downloading and merging the drive, folder, and directory options in the tutorial below may be able to fix this for you.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,

Awesome! The "Drive" section did the trick!

I have spent many hours studying the registry and comparing it with a machine without the problem to no avail. Should have come here in the first place.

    Many Thanks,

    Don
