    desktop.ini

I just got a new laptop, and everything works fine, except these weird desktop.ini files on my desktop, and my videos and pictures folder. when i try to move them to a folder of unwanted icons, it says if i move this file windows or another program might not work correctly. I am very picky and like my desktop empty, so what do i do.

    Thanks

There is no point trying to move or delete these files as they will automatically be recreated. They are system files that contain the settings for the folder (layout, icon size, etc).

No need to move it to " unwanted icons " folder. If you must move it, go ahead. Ignore the " warning ".
Just delete it. No harm will come of it.

Desktop.ini is created whenever you have customize the View of a folder.
    It is usually hidden.
You must have the " Show hidden files, folders, and drives " enabled.

To stop those from appearing, go to...
Start > in the search box, type folder options > press Enter key > click View tab at the top > put a radio blue dot, (click ) at " Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives " > click OK when done.

Actually, if you want to still see hidden files use the other setting, "Hide protected operating system files" check that option. desktop.ini is now gone but you can still see hidden files.
