they also previously stated that msdn and technet would have the RTM on the 24th of july and look what happened to that.
No, that was just an indirect rumor. MS themselves never announced that date. They just said they expected RTM to partners in the last half of July and to Technet/MSDN "a few weeks" after RTM.

I believe Vista took two weeks from RTM to Technet/MSDN. If the pattern holds that would mean RTM likely declared this Thursday the 23rd or Friday the 24th.

It is interesting that the "partners" look to get it after Technet/MSDN. Sort of wonder if they're allowing some to play guinea pigs just in case. Suppose there could be something with different distribution methods too.

The term "partners" in the Deliver to partners in the second half of July is also very misleading on their part...They could have meant that partners=OEMs in this case which enables their original statement to hold true...their wording can be very confusing and tricky at times

I agree, seems like M$ does this (makes their wording "hazy") on purpose... In general there was some good information in the latest Windows 7 team blog, but some of it could take on other meanings...like Zidane says...who exactly are these mysterious "partners" spoken of in the blog?? I want to know!!

Am I the only one that ignores any comment with "M$" in it?

Based on the WPC in New Orleans I believe MS has different "classes" of "partners", no? Some partners may get it before others. At any rate we have a new set of dates from MS itself.
