I have used Folder Lock 6 since 2010

The way it works is, it creates a FILE like any other data file, you give it a name, tell it the folder to put it in and you add data. It creates a normal file with a special suffix. You create the file and add data to it. When complete, you close and lock and it then encrypts the file and you put it in whatever Folder you want. You can identify the file by its suffix. The encryption can be slow. But it makes the file size as large as the data you put in. IF later, you want to add more, it allow you to INCREASE the file size and you can manually "size" the file.

Then you can copy that file to anyplace. But careful when putting it on a DVD as some burn programs will not work on FL 6 and you can not retrieve them later. I painfully lost some of my data and had to toss the DVD. TEST the burner program first. Don't know about ver 7 I think it has its own burner.

I have had lots of issues with the Company that makes it. Mine expires constantly and it tells me my "Free trials are up" when I had purchased it, or my "subscription has expired" and they can be a real PAIN. I think it is because they are anal about someone using it without buying and expire the license somehow or if you reload your OS, change computer name, etc. Never figured it out and they will not tell. When I complain, they ALWAYS ask me for the COPY sent to them to PROVE I paid them, that is a real pain too. I would have upgraded to Ver 7 but with my issues? Why buy more grief.
