Win 7 Blank Screen on Resume partially resolved
I've seen a few posts regarding this issue and have the issue as well. In my case, my computer boots fine after a shutdown or restart, but after logging in from a hibernate state, I get a frozen, often black screen. I haven't found a solution yet, and was hoping someone here might be able to assist. I have, however, found the likely cause (at least for most people) of the problem. The issue seems to be related to the display switching feature built into laptops (hence why it's always laptops I see with the issue). I typically use my laptop hooked up to a large Samsung 27" display when playing games, but when working, I leave it hooked up to the monitor (Via HDMI) but use the laptop display as the monitor is then set to use the DVI-D input from my desktop so I can run two machines at a time. Somehow the display switcher is causing the screen to hang after a resume until I hit ctrl+alt+del then select cancel or task manger or hit Esc (same as cancel); after which the system runs like normal.
It's not a major issue, but it is rather annoying, and all the "fixes" I've seen for it are far more dramatic than necessary, and I'm sure don't work anyway. Things such as running system restore (not an option to me now, as I've been using the system as is for some time). Anyway, thanks for any help; and hopefully this can help others as well.
