Win 7 Blank Screen on Resume partially resolved

I've seen a few posts regarding this issue and have the issue as well. In my case, my computer boots fine after a shutdown or restart, but after logging in from a hibernate state, I get a frozen, often black screen. I haven't found a solution yet, and was hoping someone here might be able to assist. I have, however, found the likely cause (at least for most people) of the problem. The issue seems to be related to the display switching feature built into laptops (hence why it's always laptops I see with the issue). I typically use my laptop hooked up to a large Samsung 27" display when playing games, but when working, I leave it hooked up to the monitor (Via HDMI) but use the laptop display as the monitor is then set to use the DVI-D input from my desktop so I can run two machines at a time. Somehow the display switcher is causing the screen to hang after a resume until I hit ctrl+alt+del then select cancel or task manger or hit Esc (same as cancel); after which the system runs like normal.

It's not a major issue, but it is rather annoying, and all the "fixes" I've seen for it are far more dramatic than necessary, and I'm sure don't work anyway. Things such as running system restore (not an option to me now, as I've been using the system as is for some time). Anyway, thanks for any help; and hopefully this can help others as well.

Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (Technet)

That sounds like a driver issue. Something isn't playing well on wake up. Make sure all devices have the latest and greatest drivers, especially video.

Yeah, that's my original thought too; but I have the latest driver for the video card from Asus (the laptop maker), and if I try to use the latest from ATI, the CCC crashes every time I start the system (seems to be the same issue with CCC on my desktop as well, and that card's from MSI). I've never had a problem with the cards aside from the Catalyst Control Center not working if I use the ATI direct driver. The CCC issue doesn't go away with a reload of Windows either. Tried that long ago.

The Windows Live Mail display is cut off by about one inch on the right. Also the bottom one inch is not visible. The two pointed arrow will not pull the screen up or to the left. The screen is centered in all other instances. Windows Live Mail is the only display that is offset.
