    a different type password problem

I have an administrator account. My password allows me to log onto windows, but is not recogonized when I try to use it to run a program asking for an administrator password. I'm the only administrator account on the computer. Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

Hi toozer, Welcome to 7 Forums.
delete your password, change your account username, recreate it as a new account, delete everything for the old one. Reboot. Re add your password.

If you go to Safe Mode with Networking, can you logon to your admin account and be able to run programs ?
If yes, run a full virus scan with your security program.
If you need extra help for that, use Malwarebytes. It is one of the best in the business.
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer
    Pick the free version download.

If infections are found, remove them.
Then, exit safe mode > logon on to normal mode > try running programs again.
    Is problem gone ?

In case you don't know how to go to safe mode....
Shut down computer > restart > immediately and repeatedly tapping the F8 key until you see a black and white screen. That is your safe mode > use the up/down arrow key and select safe mode with networking > click Enter.
