    Help with Font Family Folders?

I am suppose to have over 3,000 fonts on my PC but according to the Control Panel/Font I only have a little over 1600. I thought I was losing massive amount of fonts but found that all of a sudden the fonts are being placed into "Font Family Folders" and when I go into Adobe Illustrator the fonts are not found and they are unusable but I can see them in the Font Manager that I have on my desktop. How can I get them out of that "Font Family Folders"?

I read a lot of the previous threads concerning fonts but I don't want to delete any, I just want to be able to use all of the fonts that I have installed on my computer.

It also seems like my computer is getting slower and slower. I took it to my computer person but he doesn't know what is going on and that cost me $150. He uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator CS5 but honestly didn't think it had anything to do with the program but he wants me to contact them anyway. He said that I should be able to put tens of thousands of fonts on my computer without any problem.

Can someone PLEASE give some advice on how to correct these problems or where/who I should contact?

Paste them to the font folder.

This is what I tried before I posted the thread - I opened each "Family Font Folder", tried to copy each font and then place them individually into the main Font Folder that is in the Control Panel but that didn't work. It won't let me separate them from that folder unless I place them on my desktop.

So is there a way I can "Paste" them in the font folder another way or am I not doing what you mean correctly?
