start menu / all programs issues

this is my fourth forum i have registered to, so hopefully someone here can help me

    im running windows seven 32-bit
when i click on the 'start menu' and then the 'all programs' tab all that is optional is
    - adobe reader 9
    - apple software update
    - internet explorer
    - and then some default folders like games and maintanance

all my programs like skype, powerpoint and paint and, well everything else i want/need

    i have tried
    - changing properties
    - restoring default programs
    - creating a new user and copying programs but they are not there either
    - i followed a tutorial about organization setting and that didnt work either

i can only open programs by run and typing their command (ie mspaint.exe worked)
all my programs are there in the (C:) drive under 'programs files'

any help would be much appreciated

Hello Steph, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you mean that your shortcuts will not work, then you might see if downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below may be able to help have them work afterwards. It will restore the default associations for shortcuts.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
