    Just plain HELP!!!

Hello, newbie stand back everyone :O)

I have just got a Lenovo G560 with windows 7 and since getting it two weeks ago no two days have been the same.
    Programmes disappearing
    screens greying out
    will not shut down
takes a walk around the block and cook a roast time span to start up programmes
    cannot repair messages
    it goes on and on

I am totally bewildered, I seem to get over one little problem and then another smacks me in the moosh.

I am terrified I will start it up one day and everything has disappeared, I do backup important files on a external hard drive but that's not the point, I want to enjoy my computer and be able to rely on it, but at the moment I am getting a deep dislike for it.

I am not technically minded, so if any kind person has any suggestions as to what I might do to make me love it again, can they please put it in baby language.
    Thanking you in advance

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Since the machine is only two weeks old, I would seriously consider returning it to Lenovo and make them fix or replace it. You should not have this kind of problem with a new computer.

    +1.

Use the free tech support included for first year to get it fixed or replaced, then shaken out so you know you've got a good one by the time the warranty runs out.

Often preinstalled Windows is corrupted by sponsors' bloatware and useless factory utilities have better versions built into Windows 7 and which weigh down Windows 7, which otherwise is a feather-light and instantaneous OS in it's native state.

Here are tips to clean up factory bloatware: Clean up factory bloatware

If these don't help, here are the basics for troubleshooting Windows 7: troubleshooting steps

Many tech enthusiasts find a Win7 installer for their version to clean reinstall just the OS using the Product Key on COA sticker. Here are tips to get a perfect clean reinstall of factory OEM: Reinstalling Windows 7

    sandy,

    Forget the past.

When you, right now, fire up your computer.

Does the computer start correctly ? Yes or no.

If you immediately, shut down your computer, then is the shutdown normal? yes or no

Of course, a little more info about your computer would be useful.

    UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor. Please add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, such as provided by Speccy:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

I'm with gregrocker on this one.

Lenovo have sold you a computer that is not fit for purpose so they should be given the chance to repair, exchange or refund.

After all, if you bought a new car whose engine kept misfiring you'd return it in double-quick time, I'm sure.

I just find it all so gutting, costs you and arm and a leg to just ring these people, then I will loose everything I have downloaded onto it - well not loose but it has taken me the two weeks since I have had it to get all I need on it.
I know you are right, I will give it a few more days to see if it will settle down, I have put lots of stuff on it and there may be conflicts.

Does not do your nerves much good though when your afraid to start it up each morning in case it does something else peculiar (
