I assume that this is not related to the fact that several websites specifically block use of the back button? (thus having to use the down arrow history to skip over it).

This "trick" has been an issue for quite some time, at least with IE. Some websites are really greedy that way.

See... That would be fine except it's when I'm vieiwing... images per say. They will be working fine, I can use back button and then like 100-200 images later The back button is no longer working (viewing them online, same website).

If you narrowed it a possible bad installation of iespell, then either reinstall it, or go with the google toolbar, it has the spell check feature.

I have same issue - seems to be problem with Setpoint32.exe as if you terminate process then restart all is well again. Maybe Logitech will address this with a new driver..

Back Button doesn't work in IE 8

I have the same problem. Occasionally, for no reason that I can discover, the back button will stop working properly in IE 8. Sometimes restarting the program fixes it, but most of the time I have to reboot the computer. It is really annoying, especially because Firefox crashes too much to use on this system.

I have the same problem. The only way it can be fixed is to re-boot.

Back Button doesn't work in IE 8

Here's what I have done. It's a combo of what some people above have suggested.

    1. Shut down IE 8--which, by the way, is really annoying, that's not why I switched from Firefox.

    2. Go to accessories, system tools, IE 8 with no add ons--run it.

    3. Shut down one add-on at random.

    4. Shut down IE 8.

    5. Restart IE 8 normally.

    6. Restart add on.

This works for me. But this shouldn't even be a problem.

    back button stops working

I have this issue also but it also affects the refresh button and most times affcts the tools menu (some options in menu are greyed out).

I have tried disabling all add-ons yet to no avail.

The only way i can ensure it works is to open explorer without addons.

Restarts and reboots and all of that stuff is a waste of time.

    Possible Solution - Compatibility Mode

    Hi all,

I didn't touch anything besides turning off Compatibility Mode and the back button is working without a hitch. After a few days, I will turn it back on. Then the back button works for an intermittent amount of time. I would rather do that then deal with no back button.

I turn it off by unchecking Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Browsing -> Automatically recover from page layout errors with Compatibility View

    Hope this helps.
