Yeah and it seemed really stable to me as well, but like I say, this has stumped me and stopped me dead in my tracks. If this were just a personal system then I'd keep it on there and sooner or later I'd find the problem, but its not and I just cannot afford to loose development time trying to fix crazy errors that make no sense. haha

More importantly, as I am a developer, it would force me to constantly second guess my code, was that error caused by something I'm doing or was it the OS? In this case its better to stick with the devil you know, and in this case its XP Pro...

Anyways, I'll be back later to report if the repair worked, but My gut tells me it won't because if its a rights issue, then all those rights will still be intact with the new OS..

Restore worked! So now I can delete edit rename, etc like normal again. I do want to know what caused it to loose its mind though..haha

Might not hurt to dig through the logs a bit.
You obviously did something, or perhaps it was something you were testing that did it.
Either something was drastically changed in the registry and our attempt to repair it normally was basically blocked from what you described.

Anyhow, if you ever figure out what actually caused it in the first place I'm really curious to know.
