Are there any noticable/worthwhile improvements in PowerChute 3.0? I'm still using version 2. The previous version had issues with constantly losing communication via USB.

BTW - I'm a retired Bell Head myself!

On some models of APC UPS it will show the load and also has a usage monitor. I have a APC ES 750.But you have to put up with the UAC prompt at startup.

Thanks, Jim. It looks like they have some environmentalists on their software team now!

I wish my energy costs - showing as default on the screenshot - was that low! 8 cents per KWH? I pay 40+ cents per KWH on this rock in the Caribbean Sea.

Its actually 7.5 cents but it only would take whole numbers. I live in a semi rural area that has a coop and have not raised their rate in over 5 years. Down the road another utility charges 14 cents so I am very lucky. Of course here in South Louisiana we run our air condition all summer long but so far my highest bill has been $175 so can't complain.

Jim, you would choke if I told you what my current bill is this month! - And we don't have central A/C. Just a small window unit in the office, another in the vacation suite, a pool pump that runs 4 hours a day, & 2 hot tubs.

I don't want to know, it would kill my idea of paradise.

I would be curious to know how the electricity expense is over there. My dream is to retire and move to St. Barts

I can't say what the electricity costs in St. Barts. If they burn oil to produce electricity there - like St Thomas - it has got to be expensive. My latest monthly bill was $869. The rate changes based on the price of oil. If it goes much higher, you may see rioting in the Virgin Islands on CNN & FOX!

My home is a perfect candidate for solar power, but I just got an estimate of $33K for a 4 kilowatt system!

The Caribbean Islands are full of PWSs (Pirates Without Ships). They own the power grid, the phone company, cable company, & grocery stores - and/or they have real estate licenses!

Please don't read this post, Jim! Vacationing in paradise is great, but living here is expensive!
