Did you check optional Windows Updates for drivers first as I suggested?

Did you import any drivers that were not already missing in Device Manager after install and optional Updates? Which ones?

If so, why did you install drivers which were not needed after I told you to only install ones which were missing in Device Manager?

You need to start over and reinstall correctly following these steps exactly: Reinstalling Windows 7

Enter System Recovery Options preferably on the DVD/Repair CD to run System Restore to before the Updates were done.

The problems with Updates could not affect the ability of DVD/CD to boot. Use the Dell F12 Boot Menu key to boot it manually if setting CD/DVD drive first to boot in BIOS doesn't work. How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD - Boot to CD

Then install the Updates in smaller groups (which always create a Restore point) so you can isolate the group with the problem Update, reinstall that group one-by-one until you find the Update causing the problem, then open a Support case via email on Windows Update's Help website.

Then I would suggest you follow what Gregrocker suggested in reinstalling Windows 7 again. But I would not install any updates that Windows 7 prompts you to install. If they are for hardware then install them yourself first. Then see if the computer reboots several times before installing any Windows 7 updates.

    Hope the above helps.
