Using the phone/chat Tech Support on a high end gaming rig if under warranty is also a very good idea at this point to get his money'$ worth, since this thread is having a hard time getting anywhere so far.

We are still always here to help and won't give up until he does.

I'd master booting a disk before trying to build a computer.

What exactly happens when you try to boot the disk? Do you get "Press any key?"

What are you doing to boot it?

How do you know it is the media card reader which is disabling HD?

Unplug the media card reader after PC is powered down, unplugged and drained of residual power by holding in the power button while unplugged.

Can you enter BIOS setup now? Reset to optimal defaults, with DVD drive set first to boot, HD second and all others removed from and/or disabled.

If you cannot enter BIOS setup after repeated tries, reset the CMOS using jumper on mobo as explained here: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Hello rythemz. If its a laptop there should be a recovery partition. At least that is what I believe. I have never seen a card reader disable the HD from being formatted. What Gregrocker said about disabling the media card would be a good idea. Here is a link that might help you disable the media card reader. I hope it helps. Victor.

Glad to see that you were able to install Linux on the system. At least that indicates that the hardware is working in the computer.

    Good luck
