    Different solution

I had a black screen during boot with a moveable cursor after I had removed some software. So I don't know how it happens but I found that my desktop was extended over my pc monitor and the lcd television wich is also connected. That's a bit tricky because now you see your pc boot up normal until the point where the screen goes black and you're left only a moveable mouse. The solution is simple. Press windows-key plus P. Normaly you see a little screen where you can select wich display to use but in this situation you cannot see it, but it's there! Then press left or right arrow key and enter and repeat if necessary, and normally your desktop will reapear. Then set press windows-key plus P again to the right display setting you want.

a black and white screen saying something like 'Windows is loading Files' with white squares moving from left to right across the screen
You get that if booting normally, safe mode, "repair your computer"? Really every option?

    Idea

Hey, i have the same problem with my computer running win 7 ultimate x64. it was just happening, and a few things i found out. If you type in your password it lets you log in, but the desktop is not normal, but you can still access the ctrl alt delete, pres down 6 and right 1, which shuts down the computer without problems. and when i turned it back on, it worked! By the way, sometimes it works, like one of every 5 times restarting by holding down the button, so it could have been that random one, but it might be worth a try, for a temporary fix.

Another possible origin of this problem (windows 7 starts with black screen and mouse visible and moving but no menus, desktop etc. and no CTRL+ALT+DEL action) is if some system files have wrong permissions.
The reason because this happen is unknown (maybe a virus or an anti-virus side effect ?) and in order to resolve you should take off the HD and reset the files permission for the Windows, Users and Program folders (and files) using another computer running Windows 7.
The quick way is to assign full control to Everyone but this is obviously unsafe, better to check every directory and compare with a working system to establish the best settings.
