What don't you like about Windows 7?

Windows Explorer.......

No UP arrow to go back one level in a directory. Luckily ALT+UP arrow works as does the mouse trail (USUALLY) but an arrow would be best.
Shortcuts can't be made anywhere you like, sometimes it will only let you send one to the Desktop. Fiddly and annoying.

Taskbar.......

Tooltips. despite registry hacks, are sloooow on entries that aren't running. I want FAST, not 2 or 3 seconds to show.

Quick Launch should have been a tick box away from being available. The Taskbar and Start Menu are too inefficient for accessing quickly lots of programs and folders, OK though if you only use a few. Luckily it's an easy tweak away.

And not strictly just Win 7:-

It's awful in the sense of being easy and efficient to use. Mainly TAB behaviour is so restrictive and annoying, illogical. They should have it like Firefox with the TabMixPlus addon.

Other than that Win7 is looking good, there's a lot that's better than XP/Vista.

I hate how explorer doesn't save your settings like in Vista....Let me explain: Say you open a folder with pure videos. Alright you add a preview pane to it so you can watch them without opening WMP. You go to another folder and that preview pane is gone. You go back to the folder and the preview pane is there....In 7: You open a folder with videos and add a preview pane. You go to another folder and that pane followed you. You take off the pane and go to that folder.....The preview pane is gone....

Am new to this forum and with regards to negative review of Windows 7 OS heres mine, I have two laptops, a Gateway M series which I bought 2yrs ago and a Toshiba 64 bits which I bought end of June 2009.

I bought a presale OEM Windows 7 upgrade at Fry electronics for my Gateway laptop. My Toshiba was qualified for a free upgrade to Windows 7 which Toshiba sent me the 64bits upgrade CD.

As a requirement to upgrade to Windows 7, you have to download Windows 7 upgrade advisor which will check pc/laptop system if it is upgradeable to the windows 7 OS. My Gateway has a problem, the advisor says my laptop has to have the service pack 1. previously, I tried to keep the update to the latest but everytime I tried todownload the service pack 1 it gives me an error and cannot complete downloading the service pack 1. I decided to bring my Gateway laptop to a computer repair store to have it upgraded. It took almost 3hrs for the store to complete the upgrade.

I did the upgrade myself for my Toshiba laptop which is very cumbersome and a lot of hassles. Am I happy and satisfied now that I have the much talked about Windows 7 OS, my answer is a BIG NO.

I found both my laptops windows 7 OS very unstable, text are overlapping inspite I had set the icon at the default setting, (smaller) from site to site I have to zoom in or out as necessary, I have compressed files which virtually I cannot play with with the windows 7 media player. I used to play with Nokia media palyer with windows Vista and XP. I tried to dowlnload a converter to play my files but unable to do so.

They ruined Paint. I use to love playing around on there but now the interface sucks. It reminds me of the Air Force, change stuff for the sake of change. I think I found one new thing that I found to be a great addition.

This is relavent, because lack of drivers for "Legacy hardware" is a pain; even though MS can't do much, if manufacturers don't want to support the new OS.

If WD didn't support the old hardware, I would not purchase new hardware from them.

Any WD people out there want to reply?

See if external shows up in Disk Management. It might just need a letter assigned.

There was a huge outcry when the arrow disappeared. Most senior people here point to bread crumbs (In the address bar.), as the reason there is no up arrow. They say it would be redundant. This seems to be pretty sound logic, but I sure miss that up arrow too. Although there have been numerous posts asking for it back, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. I have been using bread crumbs, and it works fine. I personaly however, would still prefer the arrow. I agree. The arrow worked best for me.

generally you can go up a directory clicking, but if the current path is a long name that is long enough that the explorer bar can only fit it in and not the previous directory then it is a situation where the up arrow would be needed.
