One thing i dont like is that it takes so long to delete files. It always seems to count the files that will be deleted to recycle bin and the same again when deleting files from recycle bin. With XP it deleted files almost instantly.

That's why i press Shift+Delete to delete files permanently. It deletes instantly. However, it will delete the file permanently.

I think the search could be much better, if I type something in the search thingy at the start menu, 9 out of 10 times it can't be found, even though I'm 100% sure the file is there.

There is a setting for "Public folder sharing" in the "Advanced sharing settings" of the "Network and Sharing Center". This setting controls the default media folders 7 thinks you already want to share. You can turn this setting off and still share a folder (of your choice) through the "Folder Properties". Possibility?

Another annoying thing is the windows media player network sharing service. Its the first thing i turn off. Uses too much cpu and i dont need it.

Open explorer.
Click on Network.
Click on PC desired.
Click on Desired PC's shared drive / folder.

Or, you can drag the networked folder to the Favorites and have one-click access from Explorer once and for all.

Or set it in Explorer's taskbar jumplist.

Huh? Oh! You want it to read your mind?

The way 'focus' works in the 'file manager' (windows explorer of old). Open my C drive and choose a folder. That folder is blue indicating 'focus', OK so far. When I select a sub-folder the blue, indicating 'focus', goes to the bottom of the page. Now I selected the sub-folder so I could view its contents but all the contents of the folder are now below the visible part of my screen. I have to click on the sub-folder, again, and drag it up to the middle of the screen in order to view its contents. Now if I select one of these folders the blue (focus) again returns to the bottom of the page so if I need a file that is 4 or 5 levels deep, each time I have to drag the selected folder from the bottom of the screen to where its contents are visible. It is like a yo-yo. Click, click again and drag up; click, click again and drag up; click, click again and drag up; click, click again and drag up. Does anyone else find this behavior aggravating?
+1 it really can be annoying!

There is a pretty cool workaround for this problem.

yep, "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" does work - i was testing it out in an earlier build (i found that i don't actually need it now), but it leaves a 'Test Mode' watermark bottom right of screen (not a biggie).
