Yes, I have a touch screen. Thanks for the answer. I scaned that article. I guess not carefuly enough .
Good point about modular, or a more configurable instalation. I can see why someone without the hardware to handle some options would not want to have their registry, and hard drive bloated. it would also be nice to not install the features you don't use or want. That would/could cut down on the size and memory requirements; and make the OS ajustable for people who don't have the latest hardware. You can go in and turn off options once the OS is installed (Off topic: that's one of the features I like.). It's not however, easy for the novice; and the features are still loaded both on the hard drive and in the registry. There could be a full/standard install option for those that want all the goodies. Perhaps I may be wrong about the install config. I just went ahead and installed the whole thing. I don't remember to much about the install prosses, and may wind up with that hoof in mouth thing. I tried looking it up but there wasn't much there that helped.

I would say that I have had many problems with programs causing blue screens. But then again, I'm a bit of a power user, so yeah, these kind of issues are expected till SP1.

    Hi Zen00,

Sorry to hear you've suffered the BSOD's , the exact opposite is the fact for me.

I expected the normal quota of Blue screens when I started out with pre-beta, as was the case with Vista, XP and those that went before.
The actual situation was that all of the very few BSOD's I've seen through all the builds could be attributed to something I did whilst trying to force something. The same applies to general application lock-ups

never actually had a BSOD. only blip I've had with Win 7 is one time when it wouldn't log in, but I think the hard drive wasn't seated right as it was straight after the dell guy repaired it (I reseated the drive).

it amazes me that MS is making it soooooooo difficult to network win7 and xp, I have two computers and a xbox, I tried to network win7 64 bit to the xbox, great no problem!!!!!!! but I cant link xbox to xp (no media centre!) cant link win7 to xp, cant even share printers. Boot up on vista (no media center), but can shsre printers. but cant link to xbox cant buy media centre up grade for either xp or vista.
You would think that MS would try to make things easier for NORMAL un techno people somr where in all that code.

have you tried to resolve the problem through this forum? This is your first post, if you try posting your problem under networking I'm sure that we can help you.
Windows XP Media Center is a completely separate edition, not on sale anymore. Out of luck there. If you upgrade to Vista Home Premium, you will have media center. You should be able to do this through Anytime Upgrade. I'm assuming that you want to set up your xbox as a media center extender?

I have had no problems whatever with networking - Wiindows 7 Vista XP Xbox and other Wireless devices (phones etc).

If not running sp3 on XP you may need the LLTD update to improve compatibility

    http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/d...displaylang=en

and make sure you follow set procedure it should be reliable

If you have specific difficulties please start a thread in the Networking forum including hardware set-up, issues and error details and I'm sure someone will be able to get you up and running as you would like :)

As far as the BSODs go, they stopped when I stopped installing random programs and testing them for Win7 compatibility. The latest problem I'm having is another program that I installed and promptly uninstalled caused system hangs on shutdown. It still does it at random.

Well now that I read this entire thread, the only thing I don't like about win7 is I still can't enable SLI with my 9800 gt's. And worse I can't seem to find anyone that can help. And I have searched everywhere. Other than that I like it just fine. It takes a bit of getting used to since I didn't go thru the Vista deal and am coming straight from XP. But I find this forum very informative and am confident a solution is on it's way. Thanks to all who have helped in my transistion. Fabe
