What don't you like about Windows 7?

BTW: I like windows classic because you can see all the Icons, and the program or function you need to find isn't hidden under a layers of cryptic menus.
...and please don't base anything on Vista. For those that say if you don't like it go back to XP..... I did! and so did a very large user group. (I know a lot of them personaly.) If I were not threatened with warranty loss, on my new machine, I would NOT have a Vista machine. I know this is a general statement I advised people not to make, but the specific list is long, and didn't pertain to this forum.
Although Win 7 has the look and feel of Vista, a lot of the major problems I had don't appear to be in Win 7. There are some that claim Win 7 is just a souped up version of Vista. I for one have noticed some major differences, and actualy like the platform itself.
I still have gripes! ...and see where the re-learning curve is steep, but over all..... it seems to be worth the switch.

Just one question with regard to your gripe - are you running with show hidden and/or system files - temp files made by the OS are normally hidden except for those created in the actual temp folder(s).

The creation of temporary files when copying/editing files is an historic feature of most OS's, not just windows as it gave a little better security if the system should crash part way through a copy operation. the original file would still be present

uh... you should be able to network, and see all the files on another computer without Home Group. I don't like that either. I feel It's complicated, should not be manditory, and the "Security Risks" it claims to solve aren't worth the PITA

The thing with Homegroups and the other "hand-holding" technologies is that they are not aimed at the user like yourself that is advanced, (the very fact that you are using Windows 7 before release places you way above the vast majority of home users :) ).

For the average home user that thinks of a computer as a glorified games console or clever TV, homegroup is a lot easier that anything that went before.

If you look at the range of markets that Microsoft sells operating systems, the enthusiast and professional user which make up the vast majority of members here at the moment are a small group.

I have found Homegroups easy to use and they work fine for the type of user they are aimed at.

One thing that I have not tried yet is to set the network type to Work rather than Home - this will I think remove the homegroup option, but I am not sure if it will allow the use of workgroups or insist on domain membership, may be an option to check out if the homegroup is really that annoying to you :)

I know this and of course you can use the two technologies together, (and need to if you have to connect to Vista or XP), what I have found is a lot of people trying to remove the homegroup entry in the Explorer directory pane, Setting to a work network may, if I understand things, solve this particular issue
