Whatever works... It's easier for some people to understand things that way. I have bought OS books myself, and still have them. :)

DOS power tools by Paul Somerson. Windows wasn't quite what it is today.

The help files can be a little confusing; and finding the proper help when you don't know exactly what the "Watchamacalit" is is called now, is a little daunting. Still.... I find the WEB is my best resource.

If you really want to know everything there is to know about Win 7.

There are 3 books I recommend. However, 2 I haven't received yet but should next week.

MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-680)
    Windows 7 Administrator's Pocket Consultant

You can get these 2 above as a bundle for about $70 for both

    Windows 7 Resource Kit

You can also try one of the for dummies books
They are pretty good with the basics

    Take Ownership of the file.

You do not want to just take ownership of files at will.
    Only when you need to.

You should not be full admin on any PC.
An oversight in XP that is trying to be fixed with Windows.
    Allow me to disagree.
MY Machine, MY files, MY Responsibility. If I want to crash the thing, or just sit there and watch it do an infinite loop just because it makes me jolly, and I can; I should be able to do it. Who appointed an overlord to deny file rights (ANY file rights!) to an Administrator, or make it a pain to work with MY files. Security? Bull Hockey! Less BS, More ease of use, and production. I should be able to set MY system up to work for me. NOT me jump through hoops for the system.
Deny full admin rights? QUIT MAKING THINGS HARDER!
    grrrrrrr
Go ahead! Include the BS (Agreed: Not BS for everyone.) , Even set it up as default. I, as an Administrator, should not only be able to turn it ALL off; It should be easy to do it. Being an Administrator means you take responsibility for your actions. You cant just say you're an Administrator, and then say, "Oops.. Just kidding!" It doesn't work like that.
Sounds like good logic that could be applied to the Goverment as well!

After using Windows 7 since the first build, being a real beta tester for Windows 7 I'm a little disappointed with Microsoft as some stuff they just didn't bother changing or fixing etc.. so heres my list.

    1. Icons: Icons in the system it doesn't matter where I go but I will usually find an icon that is from Windows XP or before. It really just makes the system look out dated and inconsistent. I was hoping for a completely new set of icons in Windows 7 - all the current ones scraped.

    2. Search: Search is better than Vista and XP but its not really instant and I hate it how it shows system files.

    3. Libraries: This is a great idea in Windows 7 but sadly the customization for it is really bad, you can't change the icons without using a 3rd party application.

    4. UAC: user account control still doesn't have remember these settings.

    5. Screensavers: A lot of my favourite Windows screensavers are gone

    the list goes on.

And for a good reason. Having such a feature would just be stupid to have implemented.
