The indexing feature is awesome. It enables the user to search for files anywhere in the computer within a fraction of a second. Libraries are a wonderful feature too. They make file-management much easier than before. So, Microsoft FTW.
So glad you like them. I'm a staunch advocate of keeping them. They don't fit the way I use Windows. (Not to mention a possible security flaw) I just want an EASY way to disable them completely. Turning off indexing doesn't get rid of it. Nor does disabling Libraries.

For those conspiracy people out there, How about an Operating System that goes through all of a persons’ files, and reports key words back to the Government. Or a program that takes all of your Music, Movies, or other Electronic Media across all drives and directories, and makes a list to help prosecute those that make backups that might be illegal. Oooooo. While I don’t actually believe that tripe, it sounded good. Hehehe, Love fiction!

I believe they ARE still a possible Security Flaw.

Windows (Any OS) should tailor itself to the user. I want an OS that works for me; NOT the other way around. That statement doesn’t just reference getting rid of unwanted features. Features that I used have disappeared.

Good luck Mr. Phelps…. (Mission Impossible theme plays in the background)

Edit: This post was not meant to imply anything, or scare people into turning off services. When I reread this post, it didn’t read back the way I meant it when I wrote it. I’ll leave it up for content, and let the Moderator decide.

    Wish I could!
Complaining is the only way to let people know what you want. If nobody ever says anything, they will get just what they ask for. I hear people in the field every day; complaining about this or that in Vista/7. Here, hopefully, Microsoft will actually hear something. Unfortunately, this is a negative thread, and people other than MS have to listen to me whine. It will not stop me from being vocal though.

    No hard feelings!

Would just like to state here for the record that www.sevenforums.com is not a Microsoft website in any way or form.

Although Microsoft employees may read the posts here, as members or guests, there is no guarantee that any opinions or issues aired here will actually reach Microsoft.

Microsoft does have it's own systems for user feedback Microsoft Corporation

Thank you. I was under the impression they monitered the forum. How does one submit "Feedback" there? It looks like a marketing page. I would LOVE to give them feedback!

The official contact point for any issues is Help and Support although you may find that the options are a little limited.

There was of course a major feedback program during the Beta Testing phase of win7 you may find better technical feedback options with something like the Microsoft connect system https://connect.microsoft.com/?wa=wsignin1.0

You can disable windows search and indexing system, aswell libraries...for disabling librairies there's some good tutorials here in 7Forums.

If you decide to turn off Windows Search, you'll get rid of search bars in explorer and start menu. This will reduce what you beleive a security flaw.

Nobody will force to you to have what you don't want on this OS. It's up to you!:)
