I hate that it develops all the usualy, old XP flaws: getting slower and less stable over time, shutdowns that take forever, explorer going busylooping and hanging, ...

Why was I so easily impressed initially and stupidly believe, that Win 7 would be better than XP?
I should have listened to Apple's ads...

These things happen because of the applications you install. YOU are the cause.

Of course he isn't. Users should be able to install what ever they want and full up their whole hard drive and the computer should be running like it just did a fresh install. Why isn't this possible!? Damn you Microsoft!

Hm, thanks! You finally made it perfectly clear to me: If I want a fast computer I have to do the following: freshly install the computer, then shut it down and stow it away at a safe, cool place. Once a month take it out, switch it on and delight myself over how fast it boots! Then immediately shut it down again and stow it away till next month, etc. With that treatment it will remain fast and uncluttered over years! You actually might be right: probably that's exactly what this OS is made for!

Well you sort of have it right.

WHat you do is install the apps you want and need to use. But don;t install 8 different video players and 6 bittorrent clients and 4 browsers and on and on, especially this early in the game when most of them are not even really tested on 7.

I have about 30 apps installed including some big hitters and my boot up and down is lightning fast. I trim my startup apps and in ONE case I had a sound driver that hung the shutdown because it was not a vetted 7 driver and I found the cure on the net and fixed it.

So yes my one real speed issue I caused by installing an old driver in Windows 7 because they didn't have a 7 driver at the time. But I took personal responsibility for it, fixed it and didn't complain that Windows 7 was junk because it hung on shutdown for a long time...

My main moan is the way that Desktop folders and Windows Explorer are visually linked.

I want my Desktop Folders not to have the left hand pane but I want Windows Explorer to have it - just like XP was.

I don't see the point of having a Desktop Games folder for example with a directory tree but if I turn it off then Explorer loses it as well

Who thinks up these bizarre changes?
