    Video thumbnails won't show up

    Hello there,

I'm using Windows 7 just like you all. Ultimate edition, 64-bit. The system is running perfectly without any problems, but I got one issue after two weeks of using Win7. :)

The problem is that video preview thumbnails are not showing up. "Show thumbnails instead of icons" in view options is checked.

Take a look. On the left side is my HDV camcoder captured files, .mt2 format. But on the right side is my video folder, contains .mp4 and .wmv formats. As you can see .mp4 .wmv thumbnails are missing.

Maybe this is the place where I finally will got the solution.

Sorry but as I am not able to read the file extensions on the right hand image, they are too fuzzy, I am not in a position to help.
Perhaps if you produce a straightforward screenshot it might help. Also where did the files come from? Are they downloaded or from a camcorder or where?

Odds are you don't have the codecs necessary to thumbnail them.

I use the following excellent codec pack:
    Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs

After installation, run as administrator, click the "suggested settings" box at the bottom, close it, re-open again as regular user. Then all should be fixed.

Well, sorry for late reply. Thank you for your help. But I finally found some info that K-Lite codec pack can fix that problem. (never trusted codec packs before)

So I tried out K-Lite Codec Pack 64bit 3.8.0 and woala! It fixed that thumbnail problem! I just can't explain how happy I'm after such fix and 2 months long searching. :)
