Windows 7: Desperate/Frustrated

I would use a CD.

Others have written Repair ISO to stick successfully using WinToFlash

As you may need to reinstall Win7 you might want to google Win7 ISO Official Downloads at My Digital Life to download and write to stick the ISO using this tool with Win7 in the dropdown menu: Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3

Then you can try repairs step-by-step and have Reinstall as last resort.

It depends on how much you want to try to rescue this install. If so try the steps to my first post to first scan for infection, then try various Repairs given. I'd at least try Startup Repair a few times from the Install DVD before moving to reinstall.

At any point you can give up, copy out your files if needed using the methods given, then run Factory Recovery or clean reinstall with the Win7 Installation DVD which is a superior install without the factory bloatware.

All of these steps are given in my first post, most with illustrated tutorials in the blue links.

Windows 7 Starter

I'm not sure what's going on.... I read through this thread about 20 times and still don't understand how anything can be resolved.

The Acer One D255E does not have an optical drive. So how is the response to burn a CD?

I have this exact same problem.

I cannot boot in safemode with networking, I cannot boot in any way.

If I choose the first option, attempt a windows repair function and see what happens, the computer freezes while pretending to load Windows (All I see is the fancy blue background, and even after a 12 hour wait, there was zero progress)

If I choose the second option, the windows bar 'loads' for awhile and then simply resets. If I disable the reset on system error, it gives me blue screen of death and says UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.

I do in fact have a solution to this error, How to fix the blue screen of death Unmountable_Boot_Volume |

Yet, just like with the above comments, it seems to expect that there is an optical drive in this netbook that doesn't come with an optical drive.

Have you tried using the System Recovery Options from F8 Advanced Boot Options?

If not then I would write the latest Win7 installer to flash stick using the download link and tool from this tutorial which will also show you how to get the freshest start of all if it comes to that: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

With the flash stick installer you can access the Recovery Options to attempt repairs. Working through these steps will assure you have tried everything possible: Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot - Windows 7 Forums

Windows 7 Starter

I've used all the options in the F8 boot menu. Actually a few weeks ago the 'last known good configuration' option worked. But within the week my Acer returned to the state it's in now, and nothing I try is working.

My USB stick is only 1 gig. Once I find a 4 gig or stronger one I will come back to this.

Thank you for your response.
