I read that you can take the IE.exe from a Vista OS and replace the exe on Windows 7 E and it works, if anyone wants the it to try PM me and I will upload it for you.

    the only a "ugly" solution

to Install IE8 on Windows 7E you NEED THE PATCH KB968771, that's the only 100% working solution!!!

this was already posted in an other thread from Solar so I do not think that it is against the rules, its only a patch from Microsoft.

I think it will will work or it wont and as long as you make copies of any files you replace you should be safe, as far as different versions go it may or may not matter as long as both are IE8.

Thanks to Mr Grim for pointing out about copying the Vista file over.
Ive not found IE.exe on my E PC but i did copy over Iexplore.exe from my XP PC and it works fine. As this was IE8 i dont think there will be any problems and nothing has been over written (as far as i can tell).

Just curious if anyone is going to try any of the U.S TechNet keys with the earlier leaked RTM version of this to see if they will still activate? I've considered it, I really don't care for IE8 and will just turn it off even if I am forced to install the full version so I thought I might give this "broken" OS a try
