    Why does my OS have "Recovered" appended to it?


    I was reading this tutorial

    Default Operating System - Change Default Boot OS


    and noticed that my system has "Recovered" appended to it

    check this out:



    there is nothing else in the pulldown menu btw

    Hello Sam,

    This usually happens if something had happened to the boot partition of the OS, and Startup Repair fixed it giving you the (recovered) name tag at the end.

    You could use the tutorial below to rename the OS to remove that displayed there and in the Windows Boot Manager screen.

    Mine displayed the same after I had done a repair install.
