Font Error's, Deleted Fonts but still listed in folder?

Hi, First post for me (Just joined)
So a BIG hello to all, I have followed this forum for quite a while but not had the need to register before as you always had the answer

Anyhow, I am having a major frustration with fonts on my laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium x64).... amongst the other usual 64bit issues/compatability
It's new, and I was moving fonts to it from my old laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium x32).
I had installed about 6500 fonts and it pretty much ground to a stop on startup and launching programs causing even the most reliable programs to declare the "Not Responding" status (Even though i have i7/16GB Ram/64-bit)

So I thought I would just uninstall the ones i don't use all the time.
I could not find an "Uninstall" option, so i deleted them from the Fonts folder.

However, if i right click the Fonts folder it shows 2650 files (1.28GB), but on List/Details/Thumbnails it only shows 287 items and still takes forever to start.

I backed up my fonts which were on this new laptop before i did all this (there were 516 files/377mb)

Solutions please, you are my ORACLE

    Cheers in advance

    #EDIT#
(NexusFont says I have 528 installed)
So I have so many different verdicts of whats on my system I dont know what to believe anymore, but I know it must have issues somewhere because its still sooo slllooowwww

Is there a soloution other than the typical "run of the mill" Wipe & Re-Install please?
