    Help with bootmanger windows XP Professional please

    Hi there guys I know it a Windows 7 Forum but really need help with XP and know that you guys can help me the best. When I boot there is a bootlaoder that keeps on giving me the option to boot from windows that work and "Windows (Default)" that doesn't work. I edited my boot.ini when you right click> advanced> and then the settings there in the notepad took out the line that seemed to be the Windows XP setup but now it changed to "Windows (Default)" how can I remove the whole thing and make it choose the correct one.

    Thanks.....

    Maybe you can paste the exact contents of your boot.ini here, also exactly what the boot menu entries are currently.

    Edit boot.ini so it looks exactly like this.

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

    Hello, you still there? Explorer.exe hanging at start/shutdown could be any number of problems- malware, conflicting drivers/apps, corrupted system files....I suggest you scan thoroughly with a good anti-malware, then clean up temp files and defragment. You can also run a repair install.
