Upon boot, almost all text is in Marlott

Just about all the text on the computer has been changed into Marlott font, thus rendering everything unreadable.

I've tried to system restore and also set the font back to the default form but it doesn't work at all. System restore always pop ups with a "failure to system restore" message and the text doesn't return so I assume the default font is Marlott now.

Is it possible I have a virus and need to reformat everything?

Yes. Changed system font + broken system restore could be indicitave of a virus.

Alternatively, do you recall uninstalling any apps around the same time? Some app uninstallations have been known to remove the default font physically.

    and need to reformat everything?
Only as a last ditch resort.

    Fonts - Change

option 3. > 3. To Restore the Default Fonts

    Downloadthe .reg file.

If the system font has been physically removed, this won't work. However if it is still on the machine, hopefully it'll be a start towards fixing.

I'm not seeing the exact problem thus a new thread, let me know if there are any currently running threads that I hould look at.

I have two pcs running win 7 pro...

Both of them all of a sudden have weird alien looking characters everywhere instead of regular characters.

Comodo tells me instantly that it is malware but won't help me.

This looks like a users pc after setting all the regional settings to japanese or something without installing the language packs can anyone help me please?

Actually, that site helped a little bit. I was able to use option 1 to readjust the fonts on the desktop and some of the menu bars but the side panels and text on the internet are still unreadable. I tried option 3 and merging the fonts but nothing came up.

Also, I've even checked the fonts folder and there are only 3 font types...a "Fixedsys Regular", System Bold, and Terminal.

I also uninstalled Firefox and tried to reinstall it...just to see how my computer would react. Well, it won't install now. That's probably not a great sign either.

I'm thinking reformatting might be the best option at this point since I can't re-install any programs or fonts.

I wouldn't change anything until this problem is taken care of.
I recommend using Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Install, update, run.
If that doesn't repair the problem Comodo found get back to us.
