First things First before installing OS. run the Windows Upgrade Advisor to assure compatibility.

I agree with most of the previous comments. W7 (RTM build) is really outstanding, fast, stable, a total pleasure, especially after Vista. I've been running W7 as my main OS since build 7100 came out several months ago. I couldn't imagine going back to Vista now and fortunately, I won't have to.

So if you can afford to upgrade (or whatever) you should just go for it, asap.

I was always a huge Vista supporter, and still am when it comes to the small contingent of XP fanboys who still rag on it for problems that haven't existed in almost 2 years, but as much as I loved Vista, it can't compare to Windows 7. Microsoft has finally done it right. They released an operating system that's a treat to use right from the start, and historically, that's something they've never really been able to do. I didn't use 2000 until SP2, I didn't like XP until SP2, and Vista only started to shine after SP1. Windows 7 is near perfect right from the start, and it'll only get better.

Please understand where you are. If you ask the same question somewhere else you may get vastly different responses.

I don't like it but I may be the only one here that doesn't. Your best bet, as others have suggested, is to dual boot and draw your own conclusions.
