No I am not running both the anti virus programs and as such uninstalled them now.

But there has been no luck with resolving my problem.

Thanks I will try to increase my disk space for system protection and see if I can get more older dates.

But I need a permanant solution to my problem because I have been doing the system restore with new dates almost every morning for the last 7 days.

Can you or somebody help ?

Also on reading similar threads, I see that the solution offered was to download a Memtest86. Will that help in my case ?

Did you even bother reading through the Troubleshooting steps I suggested which are linked in my signature picture below? The hardware tests are all there, as well as important stuff such as monitoring the logs and using Win7´s impressive system resources.

There isn´t anything else you can do to add more System Restore points except to increase disk space and perhaps schedule regular point storage using Win7 Task Scheduler.

I tried booting the system using the Safe Mode but there was no System Protection Link in the Control Panel Properties. Only the following tabs are seen - Computer Name / Hardware / Advanced / Remote.
Under Advanced tab I have only Performance, User Profiles and Startup and Recovery. There is no option to increase the disk space.

Then I took the 2nd Option of using the command prompt. When i type in the command to resize the ShadowStorage, I am getting an Error Message

Error: A Volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an unexpected error. check the Application event log for more information.

What do I do now.

Yes I did read the entire thread and nothing there told me why this kind of a problem occurs. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I am fed up of finding system restore dates every morning and trying to boot the system normally.

If there are other options that would help me, I would appreciate it.

What were the exact results of these fresh steps which were given yesterday? We cannot help you if you do not interact with each step, missing none, checking back if you have any questions or need help performing any given step in the order given.

Run SFC again to see if it will fix the files. If not, sometimes a Repair Install can set things right short of a clean reinstall or running Factory Recovery from disks or its partition.

A clean reinstall is much superior to the factory install, however, so take a look over the steps in the Perfect Reinstall link in my signature picture below to see if its something that interests you.

Gregrocker, you seem to be running out of patience. I am not a genius like you guys in fixing computers and hence I am seeking help from this forum.

I did run sfc and it did not fix my problem nor told me what files are corrupted. I am unable to increase my disk space to get more system restore dates. If Repair Install is the only solution (I was putting this off because I read somewhere that this should be the last resort), I think I will go with it.
